Abstract

1320730 Pipe joints CLAY CROSS (IRON & FOUNDRIES) Ltd 24 Sept 1971 [6 Oct 1970] 47521/70 Heading F2G In a joint between socket-ended pipes 10, 11 sealing means 18 are compressed between a radial flange 17 on an annular coupling spigot member 16 and the socket ends of the pipes by coupling means 12. As shown, the coupling means may comprise bolts 12 which draw together flanges 13, 14 on the pipe sockets through which they pass, with spacer washers 15. The flange 17 on the spigot may be integral therewith or as a separate ring member attached to the spigot 16 by set screws, welding or other means, and may have a crowned or rectangular edge. The sealing means 18 comprise leadtipped rubber gaskets. When pipes of cast-iron are joined the coupling spigot member 16 is preferably of ductile cast-iron.
