Abstract

1318434 Electrostatographic liquid developer FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 18 Aug 1970 [18 Aug 1969] 39808/70 Heading G2H An electrostatographic liquid developer comprises a carrier liquid and dispersed therein as toner the reaction product of an hydrophilic polypeptide containing an NH 2 and/or OH group and a reactive dye specified polypeptides are gelatine, glue, casein, albumen and phthalated gelatine. The dye-reacted polypeptide may be hardened. In preparing the dye-reacted polypeptide particles they may be coprecipitated with a resin soluble in the carrier liquid to aid dispersion thereof in the carrier liquid. Specified resins are polyisobutylene, polybutene, polystyrene styrene-butadiene copolymer and resin-modified phenol-formaldehyde resin. Specified carrier liquids are cyclohexane, tetralin, decalin, isoparaffinic and fluorinated hydrocarbons. The developer may also contain viscosity control agents, surfactants and charge control agents to e.g. ethyl cellulose, hydroxyethyl-cellulose, polymethacrylates, vinylacetate/vinyl chloride copolymer, nitrocellulose and polyvinylidene fluoride.
