Abstract
1318428 Pipe couplings J W MULLINS 25 Aug 1970 40795/70 Heading F2G To tap a tubular line 26, a housing 12 is secured, e.g. by soldering, to the line, and a core 14 is urged down the stepped bore 30, 28 of the housing until its leading, pointed end 41 pierces the line and a shoulder 40 seats at 32, communication between the line and at least one port 46 formed in the housing then being established via axial and radial bores 44, 42 formed in the core. The axial movement may be imparted to the core by a cap 60, which finally deforms the free end 24 of the housing to lock the core in its inserted position. The ports 46 communicate with valve assemblies 16.
