Abstract

1318212 Knitting-machines PILOT RESEARCH CORP 2 Sept 1970 [4 Sept 1969] 42059/70 Heading D1C Tubular knitted fabric is cut at at least one circumferential location by a blade A moved vertically by a cam ring B. The fabric is presented to the cutter between sinkers having elongated noses and a presser, and is cut between edge 46 and stationary blades 47. The blades 47 are spring urged towards the cutter blade, which is mounted in a ring 35 attached to the needle cylinder. The blade is urged by a spring 55 so that its butt engages the top of the ring B which is cut out at at least one location 63, where the blade is lowered. The ring is supported by the cylinder raising ring but can be lowered relative thereto to move the blade to an inactive, or an intermediate position. The blade is moved to the latter position below the fabric after cutting a slit, but is lowered to cut any loops that remain in its path.
