Abstract

1317990 Vee I.C. engines KLÍCKNER - HUMBOLDT - DEUTZ AG 12 Aug 1970 [12 Aug 1969] 38788/70 Heading F1B The pairs of inlet valves 12,13 and exhaust valves of each cylinder 2, 3 are operated through respective bridges 11 by push rods 9 sloping towards the cylinder axes and the overall width B of the engine is determined by the points of co-operation between the bridges and the valves 13 of each pair which are adjacent the outside of the Vee and have shorter stems and the enveloping valve gear covers 17. An inlet manifold 19 is defined by the engine casing 1 between the cylinder banks and an upper casing wall 18 having an opening 20 communicating with a charging air cooler 21 and an exhaust gas driven turbocharger mounted on the wall. The cam shafts 6, 7 operate the push rods 9 and drive fuel injection pumps 15, 16 and associated governors. Exhaust pipes 23, 24 and cooling water header pipes 25 are located above the cylinder banks.
