Abstract
1317011 Silicon oxynitride and silicon carbide refractories DANFOSS AS 22 June 1970 [20 June 1969] 30088/70 Headings C1A and C1J [Also in Division H5] A composition containing silicon oxynitride and beta silicon carbide substantially free of SiO 2 is produced by heating to a temperature of from 1200‹ to 1600‹ C. a material including elemental silicon in an atmosphere including carbon monoxide and nitrogen, the atmosphere containing oxygen at a partial pressure of less than 10<SP>-16</SP> atmospheres. The material may also contain alpha silicon carbide. The composition may be used in the production of refractory linings.
