Abstract
1316728 Rotary positive-displacement engines KARL SCHMIDT GmbH 10 Feb 1972 [10 Feb 1971] 6342/72 Heading F1F A light alloy piston 1, e.g. of aluminium alloy, for a rotary piston I. C. engine has a ferrous material ring gear 6 e.g. of steel, fixed to the piston hub 2 by expansion screws 7 and pins 4 corresponding in number to the corners of the piston, the pins being secured in hub bores 3 and engaging with a close sliding fit into ring gear apertures 5, the arrangement permitting independent expansion of the piston and ring gear. In Figs.3 and 4 (not shown), the pins are in the form of sleeves through which the screws extend, end flanges on the sleeves engaging apertures in the ring gear, and a steel plate being located on the side on the hub portion remote from the ring gear for engagement by the screw heads the ring gear and plate being spaced from the hub and the screws being tightened to an extent permitting independent expansion.
