Abstract

1316376 Open end ratchet wrench INSTASNAP CORP 17 Aug 1971 38499/71 Heading B3N An open end wrench comprises a handle 11, a rigid jaw 12 having curved lugs 15, 16 and two recesses spaced apart by a web in the side faces thereof; a movable jaw 13 having a curved lug 25 and a channelled flange section 26 for sliding co-operation with the recesses and web and the jaws are urged together by a spring 30; movement of the handle in one rotational direction produces turning of a fastener whilst rotation in the opposite direction moves the jaws apart against the action of spring 30, thereby causing a ratcheting action. The rigid jaw 12 and handle 11 are connected by pin 37. Extension 20 of the rigid jaw terminates in a flat surface and two inclined surfaces on opposite sides thereof. A detent means comprising a spring 41 and a ball 42 allows the handle to be indexed into one of three directions.
