1315629 Fastenings CRANE FRUEHAUF TRAILERS Ltd 9 March 1971 6329/71 Heading E2A A coupling assembly for a top header 7 for an open top container comprises a first member 3 adapted to be mounted on a corner post 4 of the container, a second member 5 adapted to be fixed to the header 1 and a locking handle 6 pivoted on the member 3 and engageable with the member 5 and adapted to be locked in either of two positions, the handle in one of these two positions maintaining a locking tongue 14 in one member in a slot 10 in the other member and the handle in moving from this position to the other position causing initial disengaging movement between the two members. As shown, the handle 6 is pivoted on a bracket 11 carried by the member 3 and has a hole 20 for a pin 18 engageable in either a hole 16 or a hole 17 in a bracket 15 attached to the member 5; a pin 19 on the bracket engages in the fastened position of the handle, in a slot 21 of the handle. By removing the pin 18 from the hole 16 and applying a pulling force to the handle the pin 19 moves to the open end of the slot 21 and the engagement between the surfaces 7, 13 of the members 3, 5 is broken; subsequently, the pin 18 is inserted into the hole 17 and the header, after releasing the handle 6 at the other end of the header, is able to swing outwardly about the pin 12, or the header may be entirely removed. The slot or the tongue may be provided on the corner post or posts of the container.
