1314731 Anchor studs and screw sockets PRECISION SCREW & MFG CO Ltd 23 Nov 1970 [23 Jan 1970 18 Sept 1970] 3397/70 and 44607/70 Heading F2H An insert, formed as a screw-socket or as an anchor stud and pressed into a bore in material softer than that of the insert, is provided with external inclined splines interrupted therealong by parallel, peripheral grooves 14 with lands 16 therebetween. A plain pilot portion 12 may have its leading and rear edges chamfered (22, 28), Fig. 3 (not shown), and its rear end more deeply grooved. An insert of steel or brass may be used in wood or plastics. The splines extend at an angle of 45 degrees or more to a plane normal to the longitudinal axis. The stud may be plain, e.g. to provide a pivot.
