Abstract

1314003 Gauging DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 12 May 1970 [12 Feb 1969] 7496/69 Heading G1M A measuring apparatus comprises a vertical measuring column 22 guided for vertical motion by bearing 21 and supported at its upper end by vertical rod 25, the weight of the column being balanced by springs 28 connected to the lower end of the rod 25. The bearing 21 and pegs 29 for supporting the springs 28 are mounted on a carriage 20 running on rails 19, the rails 19 being formed on a further carriage 15 mounted on bearing 13 and rail 17 for movement at right angles to rails 19 Fig.2, (not shown). The workpiece 24 is mounted on a table 24 and contacted by a probe 23 fitted to the measuring column 22.
