Abstract
1313973 Making finned-tube heat exchangers HUTOGEPGYAR 7 May 1971 13684/71 Heading B3A [Also in Division F4] In a tubular heat exchanger (see Division F4) in which tubes (not illustrated) extend through corresponding apertures in spaced-apart finplates 1, relatively thick collars 5 are formed around the tube apertures in the plate 1 by a series of deep-drawing operations, Figs. 4-7, followed by punching out of the tube apertures in the deep-drawn portions of the plate, Fig. 8. Then the resulting collar is thickened (at least locally) by bending or upsetting as alternatively shown in Figs. 9 and 10. The production method also includes subsequent formation in the plate material of fluid-turbulating projections, e.g. a, b, c, Fig. 12. After the fins have been assembled on the tubes, the tubes are expanded to secure them in the fin apertures.
