1312865 Reservoir pens H RIEPE and K H DITZE [trading as RIEPE-WERK] 19 April 1971 [5 March 1970 30 April 1970] 20623/71 Heading B6P A tubular nib pen has a cylindrical body 2 containing an internal axial bore 4 inside which is located a drop weight 6 having a clearing wire 10, or compensating chamber being provided in the form of a thread 14 in the external wall of the body 2 communicating with the bore 4 via one or more radial ducts 16, a sleeve 1 or ring being screwable on to an external screw thread 13 on the body to cover the chamber. Ink may be supplied by a cartridge 28 or by a reservoir in a barrel holder 5 screwed on to threads 32 on or to the rear of an annular shoulder 18 of the body. The shoulder may alternatively have a metal centering ring (20), Fig. 1 (not shown), to accurately locate the pen in drawing equipment in which case a spring 36 biases the drop weight and clearing wire away from the nib tip, a sudden jolt of the pen in the drawing equipment being sufficient to urge the clearing wire 10 down the nib 38 which has a protective metal sheath 40 moulded into a tapered part 12 of the body 2. It may have annular ribs (42<SP>11</SP>), Fig. 4 (not shown). A protective cap may be screwed on to screw threads 7, these being of opposite hand to those associated with the compensating chamber which, themselves, are opposite to screw threads 32.
