Abstract

1312349 Moulding reinforced concrete ceiling units H WOLF 5 June 1970 [6 June 1969] 27408/70 Heading B5A [Also in Division E1] A reinforced self-supporting concrete shuttering slab 1 is preformed by moulding a concrete grid of longitudinal and cross members 2a, 2b around a welded metal lattice beam reinforcement 4, the lower longitudinal point of which is embedded in the members and the upper part extending in or above the space between concrete, plastics or cardboard inverted channel forms 3 or 3<SP>1</SP> closed at their ends and either joined at their free lower edges with the longitudinal and cross members to cover the grid apertures or cast in concrete integrally with these members. The reinforcement 4 may extend above the upper level of the forms 3 or 3<SP>1</SP>. A lower passive concrete or plaster panel 15 reinforced with wire mesh 14 may be keyed to the concrete grid by means of projecting wire loops 16a and the forms 3<SP>1</SP> keyed into the panel 15 and the grid by means of alternately upturned and downturned projections of a wire mesh/reinforcement of the forms 3<SP>1</SP> at their free edges. Projecting loops 9<SP>1</SP>b from the top of the forms 3<SP>1</SP> may key with additional concrete reinforcements 17 linking the adjacent forms. Temporary male moulds 11 in conjunction with a female die corresponding to the upper surface of the slab 1 may be used to form the elements 3 integrally on a vibrated moulding table 10. Alternatively concrete may be gunned or troweled over a wire mesh corresponding to the forms 3<SP>1</SP>. Nailing strips 7 may be incorporated in the grid members and the edge members of the grid may be wider than those in the grid body.
