Abstract

1312052 Spray nozzle with elongated outlet RANSBURG CORP 16 April 1970 [16 April 1969 19 Sept 1969] 18142/70 Heading B2F A nozzle 27' useful in airless coating apparatus comprises a body 34 containing a cylindrical bore terminated in a concave surface 30. The junction between the concave and cylindrical portions is not tangential, being stepped as shown at 32 or forming an angle (as in Fig. 3-7, not shown). A Vee-groove 26 is formed in the concave portion, the groove being disposed symmetrically on the longitudinal medial plane of the cylindrical bore and the root of the groove being adjacent (e.g. within 0.01 mm) the terminal transverse plane of the cylindrical bore. The nozzle may be used in electrostatic spraying and gives an elongated spray pattern. The concave portion may be hemispherical or of greater or lesser depth than a hemisphere. Figs. 8 and 9 are views respectively parallel and perpendicular to the groove, along an axial plane of the body.
