Abstract

1311828 Shrink wrapping INGENIORFIRMAET FERNHOLT & GIERTSEN AS 4 Feb 1972 [10 Feb 1971] 5319/72 Heading B8C A load 6 is wrapped in heat shrinkable film in a shrink tunnel 2 by providing the load with a heat shrinkable envelope, withdrawing air from the envelope and from the tunnel space at the lower edges of the load, heating the withdrawn air and recirculating the heated air in the tunnel over the outside of the envelope. As shown, the load, enclosed in a heat shrinkable wrapper is carried on a pallet 34 supported on a hot air and fan assembly 4 in a recess of a floor 8. The assembly 4 includes a central duct 12 housing heaters 28 and a fan 2 and laterally expanding ducts 16 which communicate through opening 18 with the tunnel 12 the arrangement being such that air evacuated by the fan from the envelope around the load is heated and recirculated through the ducts 16 and around the outside of the envelope to effect shrinking thereof on to the load 6. The tunnel 2 may be of known construction and provided with curtains 14 covering end openings 9.
