Abstract

1310018 Excavator buckets HARRISON McGREGOR & GUEST Ltd 16 Nov 1970 [21 Nov 1969] 57105/69 Heading E1F A mechanical digger includes a boom-mounted bucket pivotable downwards for digging upwards for tipping, and a rigid ejector plate movable relative to the boom and bucket simultaneously, by means actuated by the pivoting of the bucket, from a retracted to an ejecting position and vice versa during a part only of the bucket's pivoting movement. When bucket 11 is pivoted downwards about axis 12 the ejector plate 27, pivotally attached to the bucket by levers 28, is pivoted upwards by the co-action of slots 30 in levers 28 and pin 21 connecting two cranked levers 18 pivotable about axis 12. When plate 27 reaches its fully retracted position in bucket 11 the bucket, plate and cranked levers pivot together. When the pivoting is nearly complete, pin 20, connecting cranked levers 18, abuts the lower surface of boom 10 and ensures that the plate is fully retracted. Upward pivoting of the bucket carries pin 19 connecting the cranked levers to abut the upper surface of boom 10, causing plate 28 to sweep downwards through the bucket with further upward pivoting of the bucket. Spring 31, connected between the bucket and one cranked lever, biases plate 28 upwardly.
