Abstract

1310017 Blow torch WILLIAM ALLDAY & CO Ltd 18 Nov 1970 [17 Oct 1969] 51064/69 Heading F4T A gas fuelled blow torch comprises a first oxygen duct 9 including a main control valve 12 and a second air duct 17, both ducts being connected to the mixing chamber 14 of a mixer assembly on which a first nozzle 22, communicating with the chamber 14, is mounted; a gas fuel chamber 24, having a distributer 31, is fed by a duct 28 and is connected to a second nozzle 26 which coaxially surrounds nozzle 22; a shroud 32 is connected by a by-pass tube 34 including a control valve 35 to the first duct upstream of the main control valve 12 and coaxially surrounds the second nozzle 26. The oxygen enters the mixing chamber via a jet 15 which entrains the air from duct 17 by a Venturi opening 18. The gas fuel distributer 31 comprises a flange formed with radial through bores 31a and a further distributer, comprising wire gauze, is provided between the second nozzle and the shroud. The opening of the first nozzle 22, and the end rim 51 of the shroud 32 are set back from the opening of the second nozzle 26, the angle of coning of the inner and outer walls of nozzle 26 being preferably 42 and 50 degrees respectively.
