1308119 Anodes for mercury cathode cells SIGRI ELEKTROGRAPHIT GmbH 15 Sept 1971 [26 Sept 1970] 43072/71 Heading C7B A graphite anode, in a mercury cathode cell for electrolysis of alkali metal halide, has a plurality of gas collecting slots 2 formed in its lower surface and separated by bars 4, Fig. 2 (not shown), forming part of the anode, a plurality of first (gas extraction) passages 3 communicating the upper surface with the slots, and a plurality of second (fresh solution supply) passages 5 through the anode at the bars communicating the upper and lower surfaces thereof, preferably via a plurality of slots 6 in the upper surface.
