Abstract

1308009 Change-speed gear NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 21 April 1970 [14 July 1969] 29258/72 Divided out of 1308001 Heading F2D Three sun-ring-planet trains 12, 13, 14, identical or not, controlled by two selective input clutches K1, K2, and three brakes B1, B2, B3, provide three reduced ratios, directdrive and one reverse, and, with the optional addition of a two-element train 45a and clutch K3, one overdrive. Connections are as shown, the additional planets 45a being fast to the planets C3 of the preceding train. For the basic first four ratios the input clutch K2 drives the triple suns S1, S2, S3, brakes B3 (or one-way brake 32), B2 and B1 being applied successively and singly for the first, second and third ratios, the clutch K1 to the first ring R1 for direct drive, K1 also giving reverse with B3. For overdrive the impeller or turbine of a driving torqueconverter is clutched by K3 to the ring R4 and brake B1 applied. Formulae, together with a graphical solution, specify the ratios. Input and output shafts may be transposed.
