Abstract
1307215 Dynamo-electric machines ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 12 March 1970 [15 April 1969] 19198/69 Heading H2A A dynamo-electric machine, e.g. a large turboalternator incorporates between the stator core 6 and stator end windings 9 a generally annular leakage-field intersecting screen comprising a plurality of lengths 12 ... 15 of non- magnetic electrically conducting, e.g. Cu elongate cross-section material arranged edge to edge with adjacent edges bonded together. As shown, the lengths are extruded or rolled to a chamfered rectangular shape, and are brazed or welded together with one length, 15, normal to the others. Some or all have openings 16 through which cooling water or gas flows in opposite directions in adjacent lengths, being supplied via connections 19 and couplings 22, pipes 21, and manifold pipes (28, 29), Fig. 6, resting on a core end plate 10 to which the screen is secured. The lengths alternatively may be spirally wound, and similar screens 27, 26 may be applied to a heat exchanger 4 and a casing end shield 8.
