Abstract
1,270,591. Core constructions. STANDARD MAGNET A.G. 25 March, 1969, No. 15567/69. Heading H2A. A rotor or stator comprises a core of substantially coaxial cylindrical layers of magnetizable strip or sheet material having poles directed axially and a winding accommodated in radial slots, the face of each pole being of larger area than the smallest cross-sectional area of the pole, such larger area being obtained by relative axial displacement of at least some of the layers. Fig. 1 shows a stator core comprising coiled metal strip 1 with slots 3 forming poles 2, the strip being wound so that the pole-faces 6 are part-spherical. Alternatively the pole-faces may be formed with grooves as at 6<SP>1</SP>. Fig. 3b or with steps as at 6<SP>11</SP>, Fig. 3c. Instead of comprising a coiled strip, the core may consist of a plurality of individual, coaxial strips or sheets.
