Abstract
1305178 Sintered piston ring GOETZEWERKE FRIEDRICH GOETZE AG 2 June 1971 [20 June 1970] 18600/71 Heading C7D [Also in Division F2] A sintered piston ring for I. C. engines comprises at least two radially adjacent sintered metal layers the inner layer 2 cosisting of Fe or steel and the outer 3 of Ta or Mo or a metallic material with similar wear and heat-resistant properties. The outer layer may be 1/3 the thickness of the ring and an intermediate sintered layer 4 of Fe-Mo may be used to bond the two layers together. The piston ring is formed by pressing and sintering the powder layers together.
