Abstract

1304684 Liquid level indication; magnetic switch ROSEMOUNT ENG CO Ltd 11 Feb 1970 [11 Feb 1969] 7395/69 Heading G1H [Also in Division H1] In a liquid level sensor a body 10 is fromed of materials of at least two different densities, such as a lower density plastics material, polytetrafluoroethylene, having a higher density material insert 12 so that the centre of gravity of the body 10 normally lies below a pivot 11 but when the body 10 is immersed in a liquid the additional buoyancy gives a torque opposing and greater than that due to gravity and the body 10 tends to swing about the pivot 11 to move a magnet 14 relative to a reed contact assembly to operate an indicator. In a further embodiment, Figs.3 and 4, (not shown) a shunt is moved between a ferro magnet and the reed contact assembly. In yet a further embodiment Fig. 5, (not shown) the body is mounted on one end of a lever and the other end of the lever carries a permanent magnet.
