Abstract

1408402 Tipping bucket IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 6 March 1973 [16 March 1972] 12356/72 Heading B8N A tipping bucket for sampling a liquid as it flows from an outfall has attached to its external surface a container so positioned that when the bucket swings about its pivot into the emptying position liquid from the outfall flows into the container, liquid being retained in the container until the bucket returns to its normal position whereupon the liquid within the container flows out of the container. The container is preferably a three-sided rectangular container whose base is the external surface of the bucket, the base of the container while the bucket is emptying being inclined to the horizontal so as to form a trough with the three sides. The bucket may be of metal or plastics and may have an outlet through which a proportion of the liquid flowing into the bucket can bleed off.
