Abstract
1304037 N-halo derivatives and bleaching compositions E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 23 April 1970 19621/70 Heading C2C [Also in Divisions C1 and D1] A bleaching composition comprises an N-halo compound in equilibrium with the corresponding N-hydrogen compound and an alkali or alkaline earth metal hypochlorite, hypobromite or hypoiodite and buffered to pH 4-11. Exemplified N-halo compounds are: N,N<SP>1</SP>- dichlorobarbiturate, the N-chloro derivatives of p-toluenesulphonamide, methane sulphonamide, melamine, 2-imidazolinone, pyrrolidone, 5- methyluracil, 5,5-dimethylhydantoin, hydantoin, acetanilide, N-ethylacetamide, acetamide, phthalimide, phthalohydrazide, benzamide, urea, N-methylurea, methylolurea, acetylurea, biuret, methyl and ethyl allophanates, methyl and ethyl carbamates, pyrrole, indole, formamide and N-methylformamide, and N-bromosuccinimide, N-iodo-N-ethylacetamide.
