Abstract

1300115 Heated wind-screens DEUTSCHE TAFELGLAS AG DETAG 10 March 1970 [13 March 1969] 11355/70 Heading H5H A vehicle window is initially heated by an element A to clear a zone thereof and then by element A and an element B which is arranged to heat the remainder of the window. The zone heated by element A is initially supplied with a relatively high power per unit area from a source connected to conductors 1, 3 by a bimetallic switch having a heating resistor (Fig. 2, not shown). After a set period the bimetallic switch connects the power supply to conductors 1, 2, disconnecting conductor 3, so that elements A and B are connected in series and the entire window is heated at a reduced power per unit area. The elements A and B may be wires in an interlayer of laminated glass, or zones of transparent metal films. The resistance values of elements A and B may be the same or different. More than two zones with individual elements may be provided
