Abstract

1399700 Transformers MASCHINENFABRIK REINHAUSEN Gebr SCHEUBECK KG 19 June 1973 [20 June 1972] 28979/73 Heading HIT A transformer on-load tap-changing arrangement comprises output means L 1 -L 2 connectable to each of two input connections U 1 , U 2 through a main path I, II comprising at least two switches in series I 1 -I 2 , II 1 -II 2 , and an auxiliary path III, IV comprising at least two switches in series III 1 -III 2 , IV 1 -IV 2 . Each auxiliary path III, IV is connected to its respective input connection U 1 , U 2 via a switchover resistance Ri, R 2 comprising two resistors in series R 11 -R 12 , R 21 -R 22 ; and from the respective junction of each of these pairs a high resistance R 4 , R 5 is connected to the junction of two switches in the respective associated main switch path I, II. A further high resistance R 22 , R 21 connects a respective input connection U 1 , U 2 with the junction of two switches in the respective opposite auxiliary switch path IV, III. In the tap-changing sequences, e.g. from main path I to main path II, make-before-break switching occurs in the order I-III, III-IV, IV-II; any arc is self-extinguished at the first zero current passage after the opening of a switch. Each of the switchover resistances R 1 , R 2 is designed to drop a potential difference at nominal load current euqal to the step voltage (U 2 -U 1 ); and each resistor R 11 , R 12 , R 21 , R 22 is made equal to one-half its respective switchover resistance; in this way the recovery voltages of the switches in any path are made equal in magnitude.
