Abstract

1399352 Bumpers C R WITTER 4 Dec 1972 [3 Dec 1971] 56135/71 Heading B7J A supplementary sturdy bumper E, for mounting on a vehicle A provided with a trailer towing bracket D at its rear and with the usual rear bumper B, is provided centrally with a coupling element F which is mateable firmly with the trailer coupling element C on the bracket D, so that when the bumper E is mounted on the vehicle impacts on that bumper are absorbed by the bracket D and transmitted to strong point on the vehicle. The bumper E is provided near its ends with rubber pads H for engaging parts of the vehicle A, towards the rear corners thereof. The coupling element F may be as described in Specification 958,137 and the coupling element C may be mounted on the vehicle by elastomeric material, as described in Specification 707,052.
