Abstract

1398571 Testing cigarettes HAUNIWERKE KORBER & CO KG 28 Sept 1972 [8 Oct 1971] 44920/72 Heading A2C In a device for air pressure checking of cigarettes or similar rod-like articles disposed in holders of a conveyor, at least one end of the article is engaged by a sealing element 19 having a smaller natural internal diameter 27 than the diameter of the articles and is arranged to bear on the periphery thereof with a force caused by the elasticity of the element 19, and a pressure element 18 is arranged to exert a force axially on the sealing element 19, in such manner that the internal diameter 27 increases, when introducing and removing the article. The pressure element 18 takes the form of a cam actuable piston which is provided with a duct 24 for connection to a source of checking air. The sealing element 19 embodies a ring-shaped elastic sealing lip 29 which is connected through a ring-shaped elastic web 28 with a flange-like pressure surface 25.
