Abstract

1398144 Reinforced extruded hose INDUSTRIE PIRELLI SpA 21 July 1972 [21 July 1971] 34112/72 Heading B5A [Also in Division F2] A method of producing shaped flexible hoses comprises extruding a vulcanizable elastomeric composition in the form of a tube of indefinite length, winding thereon a reinforcing structure comprising at least one component of textile material at an angle of not less than 60 degrees with the axis of the tube, the distance between two contiguous coils being not greater than 10 mm., extending on to the said reinforcing structure and adhering thereto, a vulcanizable elastomeric composition in the form of a tube, cutting transversely the assembly thus formed into pieces of definite length, fitting each piece on to a shaping mandrel having an axis constituted by one or more curvatures, subjecting the said pieces to a thermal vulcanizing treatment and removing them from said mandrels. Preferably the reinforcement is a single- or multi-start winding constituted of fibres or cords of regenerated cellulose or glass wound at an angle between 70 and 88 degrees to the axis of the tube. The reinforcement may also consist of two windings wound in opposite directions at the same angle to the axis of the tube.
