Abstract

1397171 Piezo-electric generators RION CO Ltd 24 April 1973 [14 Sept 1972] 19365/73 Heading H2A In a high voltage generating device comprising a piezo-electric element unit 2 housed in a casing 1 in which is slidably engaged a box 3 containing a striker 10, the striker 10 is biased towards the piezo element by a spring 14 and has a stepped portion 11 engaged by a projection 9 on a member 6 which is held in position in casing 1 by a spring 13 so that, in use, at some time after box 3 is pressed to the left, as viewed in Fig. 2, so compressing spring 14, further projections 12 on member 6 are pushed upwards by stepped portions 16<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3 (not shown), on box 3 so as to release the striker from projection 9, the striker then being urged against the piezo element by spring 14. On being released, the box 3 is pushed back to the position shown by spring 13. There may be two members 6 disposed on opposite sides of spring 13. The device is suitable for use as the igniter of a gas fuelled cigarette lighter.
