Abstract

1397032 Railway rail fastening pads PANDROL LTD 21 June 1973 29613/73 Heading E1G A rectangular pad 2 for interposition between a rail foot 1 and a foundation 3 has two rectangular locating recesses 19 at the centres of two opposite sides, and has its top surface chamfered along the other two sides 28 to meet front and rear edge walls of the pad. In the fastening shown each recess 19 embraces a square portion 13 of an anchor for a torsion rod clip 8-7-9 (Figs 4-6, not shown) having a flattened part such as 9A bearing on an L-section nylon insulator 4 which is also recessed to embrace the portion 13. The recessed pad 2 is preferably moulded in rubber or plastics and may have undersurface grooves 23. In a modification, Fig 11 (not shown), the top surface of the pad has additional chamfers (24) adjacent the locating recesses to avoid possible contact with the insulators 4. The specification gives details of dimensions, chamfer angles and hardness.
