Abstract

1395899 Variable frequency dividers BRITISH HOVERCRAFT CORP Ltd 17 Aug 1972 [13 Oct 1971] 47634/71 Headings G4D and G4A [Also in Division H2] A square wave of variable frequency is gene- rated using a fixed frequency oscillator 14 and a variable frequency divider comprising a B.C.D. counter 11, a decoder 17, a set of selector switches 21 which can be set to identify any particular count and logic gates 15, 16, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24 arranged to switch the counter from incrementing to decrementing when the accumulated count reaches that identified by the switches and from decrementing to incrementing when the count reaches zero, a bi-stable 26 changing state each time the counter is switched. The output from bi-stable 26 feeds another bistable 27 which with gates 28-31 generates the four phased inputs to a D.C.-A.C. converter (not shown) which feeds a 115 VAC two phase synchronous motor, e.g. driving a pen recorder, whose speed can thus be set by the switches 21.
