Abstract

1394997 Laminates RUBEROID Ltd 31 Aug 1972 [2 Sept 1971] 41068/71 Heading B5N A sheeting which may be used as an underslating felt for a roof, comprises a layer of fibrous material embedded in a bituminous material consisting of or comprising bitumen and/or pitch having laminated thereto on at least one face a woven, non-woven, cast or extruded fabric, mesh or netting of synthetic organic fibre, e.g. nylon, regenerated cellulose, cellulose acetate, polypropylene or polyethylene terephthalate. The fibrous material embedded in the bituminous material may be a felt, mat or fabric of natural or synthetic organic and/or inorganc fibres, e.g. rag felt, an asbestos or glass fibre mat or fleece or a glass fibre fabric. The bituminous material which may be blown or oxidized bitumen, straight run bitumen and/or coal tar pitch, may contain 10-70% by weight of a comminuted filler, e.g. sand, fly ash, slate powder, limestone or asbestos. The sheeting may be produced by coating the bitumen-saturated fibrous layer on both faces with a filled bitumen and partially embedding a fabric therein. An antitack coating, e.g. sand or talc, may be applied.
