Abstract

1394822 Disc brake pads; wear indicators GIRLING Ltd 22 May 1972 [21 May 1971] 16275/71 Heading F2E A disc brake pad backing plate 11 has a hole 14 connected to a neighbouring edge by a slot 15 of width less than the hole diameter, friction material 12 being clear of the hole end of the slot. Fig. 3 shows a wear indicator comprising a conductor 17 embedded in elastomeric material 18 at one end surrounding a wire 47, and at the other end forming a projection 19 which is contacted by a brake disc after maximum lining wear. The conductor 17 extends parallel to the lining material 12 in the slot 15. The elastomeric material 18 is formed as a head with flanges 21 overlying surfaces of the plate 11.
