Abstract

1394735 Moulding sliding clasp fasteners YOSHIDA KOGYO KK 8 May 1972 [8 May 1971] 21425/72 Heading B5A [Also in Division E2] A plastics filament 1, Figs. 1 and 2, coiled round a mandrel 2 is heated by hot air in a tube 3 and is fed between shaping rollers 5 and 6 which separate the individual coils and impart the desired cross-sectional shape with a bead 22a on one of the rollers forming the coupling heads on the coils. The rollers 5 and 6 are each an assembly of parts as shown, and the gap defining surfaces are milled to effect feeding of the coil along the mandrel which has the desired crosssection in the gap. The roller shafts 7 and 13 are interconnected by bevel gears 16, 17 and are inclined to each other at an angle of 14 to 20 degrees. The separation of the rollers is determined by distance pieces 18 and 19. In another embodiment Fig. 3, the roller assembly 6 includes a spring loaded disc 26 located on pins 31 extending from the flange 20.
