Abstract

1394634 Steam irons GENERAL ELECTRIC CO 18 Sept 1973 [18 Sept 1972] 43755/ 73 Heading D1A A steam iron 'has a peripheral slot 26 to provide a "curtain" of steam between a smooth soleplate 10 with a steam generating chamber 16 and a coverplate 22 with a peripheral extension 32 extending to the ironing surface of the soleplate. The slot may extend along the whole or part of each side of the soleplate but does not extend along the heel (34) (Fig 3, not shown). The iron further comprises a water tank 14 and a drip valve 20.
