1287298 Hand irons A IVES 27 Oct 1970 [29 Oct 1969] 52967 Heading D1A Pressing apparatus comprises a sole 1 with one or more, preferably lipped, holes 11 for egress of steam, a steam supply tube 3 and a heater element 21 disposed within a hollow casing 2 between the tube 3 and the hole or holes 11 from which it is spaced. As shown the iron further comprises electrical leads 27 for the element 21 and a chamber 25 for a thermostat which may be set at 340‹F for example.
