Abstract
1394095 Rotary positive-displacement fluid machines M LEROY and A THIEBAUT 14 July 1972 [16 July 1971] 33019/72 Heading F1F An I.C. engine has a three-lobed planetary rotor 2 mounted on an oval eccentric 40 in a four-lobed cavity within a stator 1, the cavity being coaxial with an output shaft (not shown) to which the eccentric is fixed. The profile of a track 41 in the rotor for the eccentric is such that there are always three axial lines of contact between this track and the eccentric. To reduce friction the eccentric comprises rollers 42, 43 and may have anti-friction bearing elements e.g. balls or rollers, on its perimeter between the rollers 42, 43. Inlet and exhaust valves 33, 34 and spark-plugs 31, 32 are disposed as shown. The engine may have two pistons on a common shaft, Figs.8 and 9 (not shown), one piston being driven by the other and effecting induction of the working fluid. Instead of the rollers 42, 43 the eccentric may have a member 5 that slides on the track 41 and revolves freely on a crank-pin 143 comprised in the output shaft. Additionally, a member 6 similar to the member 5 may be secured to the end-walls of the cavity coaxially with the output shaft and such that it is free to rotate. It is indicated that the engine may be adapted to operate as a pump or compressor.
