Abstract
1392629 9 - Dicyanomethylene - 2,4,7 - trinitrofluorene and complexes thereof M SHARP and G JOHANSSON 16 June 1972 [17 June 1971] 28393/72 Headings C2C and C2J [Also in Division G1] Tetraphenylarsonium 9 - dicyanomethylene- 2,4,7-trinitrofluorene is obtained by reacting tetraphenylarsonium iodide with lithium 9- dicyanomethylene - 2,4,7 - trinitrofluorene in methanol. Tetraphenylarsonium iodide is obtained by reacting tetraphenylarsonium chloride, purified by precipitation from ethanol with ether, with aqueous potassium iodide. Copper 9 - dicyanomethylene - 2,4,7 - trinitrofluorene is obtained from the corresponding lithium salt by treating a solution of the lithium salt in methanol with a solution of cupric/ nitrate in methanol. The lithium salt itself is obtained by treating 9-dicyanomethylene-2,4,7- trinitrofluorene with lithium iodide in acetonitrile. 9 - Dicyanomethylene - 2,4,7 - trinitrofluorene is obtained by reacting 2,4,7-trinitro-9-fluorenone with malonitrile in refluxing methanol and in the presence of piperidine as catalyst.
