Abstract
1392089 Reciprocating pumps BOERBOEL POMPE (EIENDOMS) BEPERK 7 July 1972 [8 July 1971] 31878/72 Heading F1A A pump for mounting in a borehole for raising water comprises a bucket piston 32 moved on its discharge stroke by a hydraulically-actuated piston 40 and on its return stroke by a spring 38. The pistons are connected by a ball joint 46. Hydraulic actuation is by a piston and cylinder assembly at ground level connected to cylinder 42 by pipe 50, the assembly being driven by an I.C. engine or electric motor and incorporating a reduction gear and a crank of adjustable throw, Fig.2 (not shown), an actuating liquid supply reservoir and air venting valve also being provided. A resilient washer 74 acts as a buffer for piston 40. In a double-acting embodiment, Figs.3, 4 and 6 (not shown), two bucket pistons are arranged coaxially in a common cylinder and reciprocated 180 degrees out of phase by actuating pistons hydraulically connected to a twin-cylinder actuating piston and cylinder assembly at ground level; the actuating pistons moving the bucket pistons on their discharge strokes and further actuating pistons connected to the bucket pistons being hydraulically connected in a closed circuit so that the discharge stroke of one bucket piston effects the return stroke of the other, return springs also being used. The stroke of the twin cylinder actuating assembly is adjustable by interchangeable spacers for the crank-pins of its drive. The pump discharge pipe 30 may be a flexible base supported in the borehole by spaced, resilient rings or discs (82), Fig.1 (not shown). Shields 70 protect the pipe unions.
