Abstract

1389207 Spray nozzles PLESSEY CO LTD 2 June 1972 [29 June 1971] 30370/71 Heading B2F [Also in Division F4] A liquid fuel atomiser comprises an ultrasonic vibrator 3 to which a bar member 1, 6 is connected so that its outer end vibrates in the longitudinal direction of the bar member, the bar member having a longitudinal passage 7 therein communicating with a liquid fuel supply and including a cylindrical portion 13 within which is located a cylindrical swirl plug 10 having helical grooves 9 on its surface which define with the passage portion 13 swirl passages, the passage terminating in a disc 8 having a fuel outlet 8a which is spaced from the plug 10 to provide a swirl chamber 14. The vibrator 3 comprises a piezoelectric transducer disc.
