Abstract

1389010 Joint-making packing LUCAS AEROSPACE Ltd 26 July 1972 [31 July 1971] 36121/71 Addition to 1,116,289 Heading F2B The sealing means disclosed in the Specification 1,116,289 is provided with a further seal formed by face-to-face contact between the pair of bodies and before the first resilient seal 15 or 16 in the succession. As shown, this further seal is between a face 13 of a seal plate 12 and a body 10 and between a face 14 of the seal plate and a body 11. Leakage is led away from the drain recesses 19, 20 disposed between the sealing faces 17, 18 and the resilient seals 21, 22 in the succession. A communicating hole (26), Fig. 1 (not shown), passes through the seal plate (12) between the drain recesses 19, 20 and the leakage is led away by drain holes in the bodies 10, 11, which drain holes are positioned adjacent enlarged cavities (25) of the drain recesses 19, 20.
