Abstract

1388571 Bearings KRAFTWERK UNION AG 22 Aug 1972 [18 Jan 1972] 2456/72 Heading F2A A plain journal bearing comprises a bearing member 2 and a support member, the support having a base 82 for securing to a bearing pedestal and a head 81 connected to the base by a body 80, the bearing member being mounted in the support member by way of co-operating spherical surfaces on the bearing member and head. The body is such that the head is deflectable relative to the base. Springs may be provided so as to damp the deflections of the body. The bearing member may have radially extending bearing surfaces for receiving thrust loadings from annular flanges on the shaft. The bearing member may be supported in two elements having spherical surfaces, and pressure members 9, 10 may be arranged to receive axial thrust from the bearing member. An oil duct may be provided in the bearing member for conducting pressurized oil to the bearing surfaces. The thrust bearings may comprise tiltable pads supported by springs in the bearing member. Removable supports 17 may be provided on each side of the support member to bear additional forces arising during the mounting of the shaft.
