1387921 Electrolytic recording media TELAUTOGRAPH CORP 12 May 1972 [13 May 1971] 22490/72 Heading D2B An electrolytic recording medium for use in a dissolving electrode recording apparatus comprises a sheet of porous base material, e.g. paper, containing an aqueous solution of a marking compound, an electrolyte, and a fluorescent brightening agent. The marking compound may be a polyhydroxy phenolic compound e.g. catechol, gallic acid, methylene disalicylic acid, protocatechuic acid, dihydroxy phenylacetic acid, dihydroxyphenylpropionic acid, sodium formaldehyde sulphoxylate, or ascorbic acid. The electrolyte may be an alkali metal or ammonium chloride, nitrate, or sulphate. The brightening agent may be a p, p'-diamino stilbene-o, o'-disulphonic acid, or a derivative thereof. The aqueous solution may include an oxidising agent e.g. an alkali metal chlorate, bromate, perchlorate, iodate, or periodates; an organic or inorganic acid e.g. phosphoric acid, oxalic acid, tannic acid, formic acid; thiourea, dithiobiuret or an alkyl derivative thereof; a metal sequestering agent e.g. EDTA, andlor an image tone modifier e.g. an alkali metal phosphate.
