Abstract

1387711 Candles AVON PRODUCTS Inc 27 March 1972 [26 March 1971] 14291/72 Heading C5W [Also in Division C3] A transparent candle is formed from a gel of a thermoplastic polyamide and a flammable solvent therefor. The polyamide may have a M.W. of 2000 to 10,000 and be derived from dimerized linoleic acid; it preferably provides 5 to 35 wt. per cent of the gel. Specified solvents are unsaturated fatty acids and alcohols, saturated fatty alcohols, esters of fatty acids and di- or tri-hydric alcohols and C 6-8 fatty acid esters of C 6-14 fatty alcohols. The gel may also include an antiflaring compound, e.g. stearic acid or an ester thereof, dodecanol laurate or a mineral oil, colouring agent, perfume and/or clarifying agent, e.g. glycerine, a C 2-6 glycol or a C 1-4 alcohol.
