Abstract
1387773 Fluid control circuits PARKERHANNIFIN CORP 9 Jan 1973 [10 Jan 1972] 1232/73 Heading F1P [Also in Division G3] A motor 5 and its directional control valve 3 are connected to a load control and holding valve 4 with a main closure member 23 controlling flow between valve 3 and the head end of the motor, member 23 being controllable by pilot valve member 27 which is unseated by excess pressure in chamber 36 and by pressure in the rod end by the motor acting on a piston 31 which can engage member 27 at 32, 34. When valve 3 is shifted to the left, conduit 17 allows supply pressure to act on member 27 and piston 31 to hold them depressed whereby member 23 functions simply as a check valve member to permit flow to the head end of the motor. When valve 3 is shifted to the right, the pressure in the rod end of the motor raises piston 31 to unseat member 27 whereby member 23 allows return flow from the head end, but if the rod end pressure falls due to load runaway the piston 31 will reseat member 27 and member 23 will restrict return flow to prevent cavitation in the rod end. Upon returning valve 3 to neutral, restricted by-pass 6 generates a back pressure which acts via 17 to seat member 27 whereby member 23 seats to arrest movement of the motor. With valve 3 in neutral, member 27 will respond to excess pressure arising due to thermal expansion and allow member 23 to unseat to relieve the pressure. Two valves 4 may be connected to the motor as in Fig. 2 to prevent cavitation in both motor chambers.
