Abstract

1386078 Brake adjusting pins; mounting cams on shafts S ARTHUR and P W JOHNSON 3 Aug 1972 [4 Aug 1971] 36542/71 Headings F2E F2H and F2U A brake adjusting pin comprises a tool engaging part 14, an abutment 16 engaging the backing plate 10 of an internal shoe drum brake, an intermediate bearing portion 20 rotatably mounted in a hole 12 in plate 10, a cam 32, engaging portion 24 comprising teeth 28 and an inner screwed threaded portion 34, the arrangement being such that the pin is mounted by passing it through hole 10 and cam 32 and a nut 36 mounted thereon whereby rotating parts 14 and nut 36 results in teeth 28 cutting complementary teeth in cam 32. A strong compression spring 40 is located between the backing plate 10 and cam 32. The pin may be case hardened and corrosion resistant.
