Abstract

1385813 Incinerator grates CSIGG 17 March 1972 12639/72 Heading F4B A grate for an incinerator comprises a number of stepped sections 1a, 1b, 1c, closed at the top and arranged so that air is supplied through the grate at the junction between two steps. The stepped sections, which may be of metal or refractory, are mounted on a sloping vibratory frame and the upper surfaces slope in the opposite direction to the frame. The upper surfaces may be ridged, as at 1b, 1c or provided with beads at the forward edge. A deflector 9, which may be integral with the surmounting step, or with the succeeding step, is shaped to prevent liquid or other refuse entering the under grate space through the air outlet nozzle 3. The step members are secured to each other, and may be integral with the side plates. The grate may taper towards the outlet end, and may have longitudinal ribs 18, the transverse profile of the grate changing from that of Fig. 6 at the charging end to that of Fig. 7 at the outlet end. The plates at one side of the grate may be overlapped to provide secondary air supply passages.
